The warm, classic rawhide tone engraves to a deep black that stands out on caps, duffels, aprons, and barware—ideal for makers serving breweries, teams, fairs, and gift shops. Our signature ~1.8 mm construction keeps panels stable on press and steady under the laser, producing clean interiors on letters and shapes that would fray or fuzz on lesser materials. The thermal adhesive is made to American Standards that hat makers demand and fine tuned for a permanent, wash-durable bond when applied with proper heat and pressure across common textiles.
For shop efficiency, we recommend staging sheets by color, engraving everything first with minimal air, then toggling air back on for a crisp cutting pass. A quick scrub with LA’s Totally Awesome removes residue and brings the tone back to true. If you sell sets (hats + key tags + coasters), this finish ties the whole collection together with an authentic leather look—minus the maintenance.

Press Notes – Signature Leatherette

Our Signature Leatherette is designed for Universal Heat Press Settings compared to standard materials on the market.  It responds best to balanced, moderate settings that preserve quality while increasing production speed.

Recommended Starting Point (for Dual Press Users):

• Top Heat: 280°F

• Bottom Heat: 320°F

• Time: 25 - 40 seconds

• Pressure: Begin medium pressure until a clean, even press is achieved.

• Sheet: Always use a silicone sheet during pressing.

These settings are intended as a starting range only. Every press and environment varies, so we strongly recommend testing and fine-tuning for your specific setup and preferences.

Please note that our Signature Leatherette was developed specifically for Universal applications—allowing for higher production volumes without changing settings for other brands you may be using currently and not sacrificing quality.

Recommended Platen (Perfect Press: 112-1):

For optimal results with the 112-1 setting, ensure your patches are sized appropriately for your heat press. Patches that are too large may not achieve proper adhesion across the widest portions of the design. Important: Please verify that your patch dimensions and total area are compatible with your press capacity. Additional presses, increased pressure, or adjusted heat settings may be required for larger designs. We cannot be held responsible for application issues related to patches or designs that exceed the dimensions or area capacity of your heat press equipment.
